A lot of people don’t realise the Costa Blanca has a coast line of around 120 miles!
Alicante is the central point which breaks it up – Costa Blanca North and Costa Blanca South.
The North and South are very different – and there are lots of different areas in each as you would imagine.
Today we are looking at Costa Blanca South.
There are many resorts along the coast – and all are desirable – But there are 3 large urbanisations that sit just off the coast which attract particular attention from those seeking 2nd, holiday or retirement homes – These are La Marina, Quesada and Villamartin. 20 , 30 and 40 minutes drive from the airport respectively.
These are purpose built New Towns which have been developed since the early 70s . All have great facilities in terms of bars, restaurants , supermarkets and are functioning towns in their own right. Each one is still expanding , with additional facilities being added alongside the new developments of residential apartments in gated complexes with communal pools and of course detached villas with private pools.
Villamartin is often referred to as the golfers paradise centred around its popular Villamartin Plaza .There are many beautiful golf courses – and only 1-2 miles from the sea. La Zenia boulevard serves the whole area and is a huge attraction – certainly not just a regular shopping mall!
Quesada is only 30 minutes drive south of Alicante airport or around E40 in a pre-booked taxi. It has its own golf course , water park and other leisure facilities. Perhaps its best feature is its town centre which offers a good selection of modern restaurants and pubs and there is generally a lively vibrant feel to the place.
La Marina is closest to Alicante airport – only 20 minutes drive – another great mix of shops restaurants and bars.
Prices for 2 bed apartments can start as low as 60,000 Euro for Resale properties with brand new luxury apartments generally starting from closer to 120,000 Euro. New build apartments are built to todays standards with Hi Tech materials – making them comfortable for use year round. Older apartments may not have central heating or great insulation, for example.
