Lets talk about Costa Blanca North.

We use the same AP-7 motorway as we in our last blog on the tour of the South,  to take us from Alicante Airport all the way up to Javea and Denia . This takes around an hour. The alternative coast road is the same N332 and obviously takes longer.

Alicante Airport is a modern facility located 5 miles south-west of the city in the municipality of Elche. A very busy airport with most passengers coming from the UK and  well served by all the budget airlines.

There are developments within the city of Alicante but most developments are  away from the city itself. 10 miles from the city we find Busot where TM Grupo have an interesting development of well priced townhouses, in what is a quiet typically mediterranean  village.

Continuing North on the AP-7 , we find Villajoyosa a coastal town known locally as simply La Vila.  With a marina, promenade and  over 3Km of beaches , the attractions are obvious. Taylor Wimpey Spain have a luxury beach front development of villas and apartments here – with direct beach access.

Then we reach Benidorm – which is around 40 minutes drive from the airport.


Benidorm is a city with many faces – the night life is a huge attraction to many whilst the Old Town of Benidorm still oozes character and charm. One thing is for sure , the touristic facilities which Benidorm and its surrounds offers are second to none on the coast. With Theme parks , water parks and glorious beaches all making for a massive attraction.

TM Grupo are building their fantastic Sunset Drive development offering luxury apartments with onsite sports and entertainment facilities overlooking Benidorms  relaxed Poniente beach with its crystal clear water and fine golden sands.

Sierra Cortina in Finestrat  is a luxury resort a few miles from Benidorm , cut into the mountains and overlooking the city coast line. Whilst enjoying the proximity to all the facilities, it is a very different proposition.

Murcia Puchades have their Salamandra residential complex here with apartments and townhouses available. Marjal offer luxury detached villas with sea views. Alegria are building an exciting new development village offering apartments and townhouses with communal pools and other facilities.

Whatever your current throughts on Benidorm are , you may want to take a look at the ongoing development!

Driving further north we come to Altea , Calpe , Moraira, Javea then Denia – all offering many options for a more relaxed and luxurious lifestyle .

VAPF in Cumbre Del Sol only 3 miles from Moraira offer detached villas with tremendous sea views in very private settings. They also have a development with similar properties in Altea Hills.

Taylor Wimpey Spain have a wonderful development  of apartments and villas in Javea with direct beach access.

Lets talk about Costa Blanca South – From Alicante to Los Alcazares which is about one hours drive south on the modern motorway which is the AP7 . The coast road is the N332 and takes a little longer to drive as you might expect.

First up is Alicante City itself – With a very cosmopolitan feeling. Walk along the promenade at the marina and find restuarants and bars . Or walk through the old town to soak up some culture. Lots to do as you would expect from a vibrant city by the sea.

Just a 15 minute bus ride  from the City Centre is Arenals Del Sol – a wonderful seaside resort town with long promenade walks and beaches which stretch as far as the eye can see! Both Euromarina and TM Grupo have fantastic front line developments here.

Travelling further south , through the salt lakes, with flamingos seemingly at every turn, we have the towns of La Marina, Guardamar and Quesada before we reach Torrievieja City. The golden sandy beaches at Guardamar with its crystal clear seas are simply stunning and 4 miles away , the facilities and peaceful surrounds offered at Quesada , beside the nature reserve, attract many ex-pats to settle.

Euromarina have many developments to consider in these areas- Check out the map below. Marjal offer detached beach villas in Guardamar and Trivee have Golf Villas on La Finca Golf & Spa Resort.

Take a look at the map below provided by Euromarina – who have built more than 30,000 properties in the area since 1972.


Beyond Torrievieja, a traditional touristic city , where Alegria are based and have apartments, townhouses and villas on offer , we have La Zenia – with its modern  boulevard. A very impressive outdoor shopping mall with many cafes, bars and restaurants. Entertainment throughout the day and night ensures this is a shopping trip with a difference!

In this same area , which is around 40 mins south of Alicante airport , there is Los Dolses and Villamartin – a haven for golfers and home to developer Trivee.  In the same locality there is also Punta Prima,  Playa Flamenca, Cabo Roig, and Campoamor – all small coastal villages with lots to offer!

A final 15 minutes drive south and we are in Los Alcazares on the Mar Menor –  Los Alcazares  enjoys a real buzz during the summer months. The 525 plaza offering a dozen or so  bars and restaurants providing a relaxed family oriented atmosphere for evening dining. The Mar Menor is an inland sea and gives rise to a micro climate in the area – meaning a more temperate climate all year round.

Bank Repossessions are still available – although arguably the lowest prices were already seen in 2012/13. But it is definitely still possible to pick up bargain – with 1 bed apartments on luxury golf resorts available from only E40k and 2 beds from around E50k. Buying direct from the bank is definitely possible – Spain’s largest banks effectively became Spains largest Real Estate agents after the bust  – but be careful – use an agent with experience who you can trust to guide you through the buying process.

You should still use your own local spanish speaking solicitor to take care of the conveyancing – we never advise to save costs and just use the banks solicitors – we know the banks are happy for clients to complete in this way – but once the deal is concluded you could be left with debt which is left attached to the property and other issues which you may not be aware of ! Take care to avoid a painful and costly situation!

There will always be something you havent thought of – and we will be with you every step of the way to help out.

Be aware that there are monthly running costs of approx E100 – but this seems like a good deal to keep the resort in tip top shape. No need to worry about additional pool cleaning expenses or grounds maintenance – its all taken care of . You should find out exactly whats included in the monthly charge though – different resorts have different plans. For example the buildings may have to be painted every 5-7 years – this cost is sometimes included – but other times it is not !

A 2 bed apartment on Roda Golf Resort will sell now for around E145k – and the prices were around E200k when Polaris World were selling their’s at the height of the property boom – so you can see why these Repos are selling well . Work has already started on new apartments – although those prices can start at +50% !

Currently we are promoting Las Terrazas De La Torre Golf Resort – you can find full details of the apartment specifications in our Downloads section. This resort only has apartments – all with elevators although no building is higher than 3 levels. There are other resorts closeby which offer villas – ask us about what is available.

The resorts are all well maintained with 24 hour security – your investment is literally in safe hands! Las Terrazas De La Torre Golf Resort offers a club house and super market facilities but other resorts offer hotels and schools – again , tell us as much as possible about your requirements and we will point you in the right direction.

A typical spanish village – with a modern hotel and boulevard complex which lights up at night! With somewhere near a dozen restaurants and a couple of pubs – its hardly a metropolis – and nothing like the typical tourist trap – but it is enough of an attraction to keep you going back for ‘ those special occasions ”

The long promenade stretches along the beautiful beach of the Mar Menor – This area has its own micro climate and is popular all year round – though considerably quieter in the winter months.


There are a number of golf style resorts in the surrounding areas. Closest , and within walking distance is the Roda Resort , but the Mar Menor Resort is only a couple of miles out. Polaris World promoted and built 7 luxury resorts in the area at the housing peak – but sadly went bust. Those developments are now operational , although some incomplete. We have access to a fair amount of Bank Repo Stock in these developments – with prices for 1 beds appartments starting at only E40k – Ask us  for details of what is currently available!

The Property Market in Spain operates differently from that in the UK . We are more used to checking out Rightmove or Zoopla , choosing the property the property we are interested in , phoning up the Estate agent and taking it from there!


When searching for spanish property – there are literally thousands of properties being sold by thousands of agents – and because of the Multi Listing System – Most agents can sell most properties ! This can be very confusing until you understand how to make the system work for you .

The best news is that the exchange rate is favorable , but prices are on the way up – not as high as their pre-crash peaks – but still rising. Its a good time to buy!

  1. Take your time..
  2. Think about what you want from the property – How will you use it ? How long will you stay in it, and at which times of the year ? How big does it have to be ? What is your budget ? Make sure you understand the buying costs which can be 12-15%  – and of course the annual running costs!

Do a quick search on our site – and find a huge variety of property on Costa Blanca South. This area is hugely popular with UK buyers – for all the right reasons…


There is a good variety of property styles available – New build , Resale – even bank stock comes up now and again – But be prepared to act quickly to secure the best deals when they become available!

Check out the beach at La Zenia , then walk up to the modern shopping boulevard or have a few beers in the bars en-route.  The casino which is part of the complex doesnt shut till late – so there is always plenty to do !

Use the map facility on our home page to find out that this area is only 45 mins drive south of Alicante Airport .

The surrounding areas of Villamartin, Los Dolces or Campoamar are firm favorites for UK buyers with access to all the facilities you will need. A 2 or 3  bed semi-detached will sell for around E130k while a 3 or 4 bed detached villa with a pool can be picked up for around the E200k mark. There are also plenty smaller properties for under E100k – so lots of opportunities for every budget.

Whether its winter sun , or family holidays in summer – these areas have proved popular due to the beautiful beach, the modern shopping boulevard , the quiet local bars- its your choice really!
